Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 21, 2026

The short version. EarnedIt reads active energy samples from HealthKit, does math with them on your device, and shows you the result. That's it. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no third parties. Your health data never leaves your devices.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to the EarnedIt iPhone and Apple Watch apps ("EarnedIt", "the app", "we", "us") and to this website at earnedit.ron-media.com. EarnedIt is an independent project; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc.

2. What data the app accesses

HealthKit data

With your permission, EarnedIt reads active energy burned samples from Apple's HealthKit on your iPhone and Apple Watch. You grant this permission in the standard HealthKit prompt the first time you open the app, and you can revoke it at any time from Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → EarnedIt.

EarnedIt does not read any other health data types. It never writes to HealthKit.

Cravings you choose and create

The app stores the list of built-in cravings you've favorited, which one you've featured, and any custom cravings you create (name, calories per item, unit label, and photo). Photos you attach to custom cravings are saved to your iPhone's app-scoped Documents directory.

What the app does not collect

No account, email, name, or sign-in information.
No location data.
No device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP address.
No analytics, telemetry, or crash reports beyond what Apple may provide to us through TestFlight / App Store Connect (aggregate and anonymized).
No contacts, photos library access beyond the single image you pick, or microphone access.

3. How the data is used

EarnedIt uses your HealthKit active-energy samples solely to compute how many "earned" cravings you have — a straightforward division of calories burned by the calories-per-item you've configured. The computation happens entirely on your device.

HealthKit disclosure. EarnedIt does not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, data mining, or any use other than providing and improving the app's core functionality. EarnedIt does not share any HealthKit data with any third party, and does not disclose HealthKit data to any party for any purpose.

4. Where the data lives

HealthKit samples stay in Apple's encrypted Health store on your device. EarnedIt only reads them in memory while the app is running — we do not copy or export them.
Your favorites, featured craving, and custom cravings are stored in a local App Group container (group.com.ron.EarnedIt) on your device so the iPhone and Apple Watch apps can share them.
Photos for custom cravings are stored in the iPhone app's sandboxed Documents directory. They are not uploaded anywhere.
iPhone ↔ Apple Watch sync is handled by Apple's WatchConnectivity framework over the encrypted Bluetooth/Wi-Fi link between your paired devices. We send only the list of favorites and the featured craving ID — never your health data. Each device reads its own HealthKit samples independently.

5. Data we never send off your device

EarnedIt has no backend. It does not make network requests to any server we control, because we do not operate any server for the app. Your HealthKit samples, custom cravings, and photos stay on your devices.

6. Apple's role

While you're part of the TestFlight beta or install the app from the App Store, Apple may collect standard information about your installation, crashes, and usage according to Apple's own privacy policy. Apple may share aggregate, anonymized metrics with us through App Store Connect. We never receive information that identifies you personally.

7. Children

EarnedIt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app itself doesn't collect personal information from anyone.

8. Your choices

Revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → EarnedIt. The app will still open; your counts will just show zero.
Delete custom cravings and their photos from inside the app.
Delete the app from your iPhone and Apple Watch to remove all of its local data.

9. Changes to this policy

If we ever materially change how data is handled, we'll update this page and bump the effective date at the top. Since EarnedIt has no way to contact you, we encourage you to check back here occasionally if it matters to you.
